Spend a half-hour flying over the Adirondack High Peaks.  See the mountains like you've never seen them before.  Seaplane rides are fairly reasonable, and usually available during the summer months on a "catch-as-catch-can" basis.  Call ahead to make sure a pilot is available to take you up (there are charters that take priority) and to quote you the current rates for a sightseeing flight.

A good estimate is $60.00 for two people for a 15-minute (airtime) flight.  Flights are dependent on the weather, and there is no reason to fly in inclement weather.  But on a clear day with blue skies, absolutely nothing can compare to the experience!

If you go, and Tom Helms is your pilot... tell him WCLamb said "Hello!"

Directions:

The Village of Long Lake lies at the intersection of NY Routes 30 and 28N, approximately 11 miles North of Blue Mountain Lake.

Travel from Lake George via Route 28 or 28N; either route offers great scenery.  Or if you're traveling my "loop", you'll be entering Long Lake from Tupper Lake on Route 30, from the North.

Helms Aero Service is on the North side of the Route 30 Bridge causeway; planes can be seen moored at their docks in the black & white aerial photo to the right.
